Definition of Hepatomegaly

hepatomegaly

Hepatomegaly – an enlarged LIVER. It is a symptom of numerous conditions involving the liver. Its presence or absence has no correlation to the seriousness of the underlying liver disease.

Because hepatomegaly is a symptom rather than a condition, it often resolves when the underlying condition comes under control.

Chronic liver conditions may result in long-term hepatomegaly.
